FRACTIONAL & INTERIM COMMERCIAL LEADERSHIP

Temporary commercial leadership.

Lasting results.

The impact of an experienced Commercial Director or CCO, without the immediate need to create a permanent executive position.

I help B2B organisations when growth stalls, revenue is difficult to forecast, or sales, marketing and CRM are not working effectively together.

THE CHALLENGE

Growth rarely stalls because of a lack of ambition

What is usually missing is alignment between commercial direction, day-to-day management and execution. Do you recognise any of these challenges within your organisation?

Does one of these questions resonate with your organisation?
Let’s clarify it together.

WHAT IS OAAS?

Commercial leadership when you need it

Not every organisation immediately needs a permanent CCO or Commercial Director. Sometimes, what is needed first is someone who sharpens the strategic direction, removes roadblocks and establishes a structure the existing management team can continue to build on.

The experience of a CCO.
The flexibility of a service.

Officer as a Service gives you access to senior commercial leadership on a temporary basis: fractional for an agreed number of days per week, or interim throughout an intensive period of change.

I do more than take a seat at the executive table. I translate the chosen direction into processes, accountabilities, CRM, dashboards, management cadence and day-to-day behaviour.

No long-term dependency; just focused leadership support with a clear outcome and a defined handover.

SERVICES

What I focus on

From commercial direction to day-to-day execution. Every element is tied to clear ownership and measurable progress.

01

Commercial strategy

Turning mission, vision and growth objectives into clear choices, priorities and an executable commercial strategy.

02

Sales and marketing alignment

An end-to-end process with clear definitions, handovers, accountabilities and KPIs.

03

CRM, dashboards and performance management

CRM as an everyday working tool, supported by reliable data and reporting that accelerate decision-making.

04

Leadership and team development

Coaching commercial management, clarifying roles, building teams, conducting assessments and restructuring where necessary.

05

Fractional commercial leadership

Senior executive leadership at an agreed cadence and for a defined period, without immediately creating a permanent position.

APPROACH

Strategic where needed.
Hands-on where it matters.

Not a lengthy plan that ends up in a drawer, but a working commercial system that remains in place after the engagement ends.

01

Diagnose

Analyse the strategy, funnel, processes, people, tools and the reality of day-to-day operations.

02

Define

Make priorities, desired outcomes, responsibilities and decisions explicit.

03

Implement

Put the new way of working into practice through processes, CRM, dashboards, meetings and day-to-day behaviour.

04

Embed

Coach management and teams, sustain the results and complete a controlled handover.

COMMITMENT

Within three to four months, your commercial operation will be measurably stronger

01
Stronger market focus

A clearly defined ICP and stronger alignment between the market, proposition and commercial execution.

02
Better pipeline quality

Clear qualification criteria ensure that low-potential opportunities are removed from the pipeline early.

03
More reliable forecasting

A realistic pipeline with clear sales stages, exit criteria and less wishful thinking in the forecast.

04
A consistent commercial cadence

CRM, KPIs, pipeline reviews and decision-making are used to actively steer performance.

05
Sales and marketing aligned

Shared objectives, responsibilities, content and handover points are defined for each stage of the sales process.

06
People playing to their strengths

Clear roles and ownership enable people to contribute where they add the most value. Any shortfall in capacity or capability is addressed early on.

This creates a commercial operation that enables growth to be managed more effectively and continues to perform independently after I leave.

At the outset, I establish how improvement will be demonstrated through a baseline assessment and clearly defined KPIs.

I remain involved for an agreed follow-up period after the handover to verify that the changes are sustainable and make targeted adjustments where necessary.

IN PRACTICE

Business-critical transformation calls for discretion

Commercial transformations affect strategy, people, responsibilities, systems and sometimes organisational culture. Confidentiality is therefore essential. All case studies below have been anonymised: the challenges, interventions and results remain specific, while company names and identifying details have been deliberately omitted.

CASE STUDY 01

Cloud infrastructure & data centres

Stabilising declining revenue while accelerating the transition from traditional infrastructure services to cloud.

Results after six months

The revenue decline had been stabilised, funnel predictability had improved, and the first cloud deals had been secured. Salespeople achieved their objectives even after their individual targets had been quadrupled.

View context and approachClose context and approach
Context

Following the arrival of an investor, the organisation needed to accelerate growth. Revenue still relied heavily on dedicated servers, while its strategic future lay in cloud infrastructure.

Challenge

Revenue was declining, cloud-sales expertise was lacking, and sales and marketing were not operating as one commercial team. At the same time, the organisation needed to generate €235,000 in additional MRR within one year.

Approach

I refined the ICPs and product-market combinations and developed a joint sales and marketing plan. For the dedicated-server market, I recruited a specialist who could leverage both an established network and a proven market approach. I also trained the team, paired field and inside sales in account pods, and professionalised CRM and funnel management.

CASE STUDY 02

International IaaS provider

Reducing reliance on a small number of customers and creating commercial predictability as the foundation for a new investment phase.

Results

Within five months, a more mature commercial organisation and better-structured funnel were in place. Dutch companies already accounted for 40% of the new pipeline, making the intended revenue diversification clearly visible. The organisation was subsequently able to continue the new way of working independent

View context and approachClose context and approach
Context

Revenue at a dedicated-server provider was heavily concentrated among a few large international customers. Payment defaults created a precarious trade-off: strict enforcement could prompt these customers to switch providers, immediately causing significant revenue loss.

Challenge

Sales consisted of a small, predominantly junior team without structured leadership, a clear go-to-market strategy or a predictable funnel. At the same time, the organisation needed to become more attractive to a new investor.

Approach

As Director, I structured sales conversations and funnel management, strengthened sales and marketing, and reconfigured HubSpot accordingly. I also improved collaboration with the network team and shifted the market approach towards reputable Dutch B2B organisations.

CASE STUDY 03

Internationale gaming- en cloud-IaaS provider

From a technology-led, volume-driven model to a vertical-market, value-led strategy for sustainable growth in the enterprise segment.

Results

Colocation revenue doubled within two years, while the enterprise segment grew to 40% of the revenue mix despite continued strong growth in gaming. The flagship data centre reached 90% occupancy. New lines of business and a reseller channel extended the revenue-generating life of legacy hardware and created capacity for further investment in the new bare-metal cloud proposition.

View context and approachClose context and approach
Context

An international IaaS provider with strong roots in gaming sought to expand into the enterprise market. Its horizontally structured business model delivered scale but provided insufficient margins and differentiation in a highly competitive market.

Challenge

The organisation lacked fully developed sales and marketing functions, as well as the market expertise and seniority required to build them. Its technically driven executive team approached growth primarily from a solution-first perspective, leaving target markets, value propositions and commercial direction insufficiently defined.

Approach

As CCO, I developed a sales and marketing plan centred on selected industry verticals and value creation. I built out the sales and marketing functions, recruited and trained new team members, introduced sales enablement tooling and led a website redesign to support the enterprise positioning. I also developed strategic partnerships and a reseller channel, while guiding the executive team through the transition from technology-led to market-led growth.

CASE STUDY 04

European insurer

Accelerating a stalled cloud transformation by bringing technical performance, financial value and compliance together in a single business case.

Results

Calculation time fell from 48 hours to 12 minutes, enabling the launch of a new insurance product within three months. Claims infrastructure costs decreased by 35%. Within nine months, this led to a broader agreement covering CRM migration and an AI-powered claims-processing platform.

View context and approachClose context and approach
Context

An established insurer was losing ground to digital InsurTech competitors. Outdated mainframes delayed product development and forced the organisation to maintain costly peak capacity throughout the year.

Challenge

Actuarial calculations took 48 hours, while claims surges generated high infrastructure costs. At the same time, risk leadership blocked cloud migration due to concerns about data residency, GDPR and DORA.

Approach

I translated these constraints into HPC, auto-scaling and a secure, segregated European cloud environment. Architecture, compliance and FinOps specialists were each assigned a distinct stakeholder mandate. A Proof of Concept and phased land-and-expand model made the technical, financial and legal risks manageable.

PRAKTIJKCASE 05

European logistics and supply-chain insure

Winning a complex enterprise tender and consolidating multiple data centres without jeopardising the continuity of a 24/7 operation.

Results

The tender was won despite competition from larger established providers and became the organisation’s largest contract to date. The Spanish and Italian environments were successfully migrated within six months, with just four minutes of downtime during the final cut-over. The sales team gained valuable enterprise experience, and the project became a strong reference for engaging new multinational clients.

View context and approachClose context and approach
Context

Following years of acquisitions, the client operated three European data centres with separate suppliers, contracts and security audits. Consolidation into Amsterdam and Frankfurt was intended to reduce costs, compliance complexity and knowledge silos.

Challenge

The migration was permitted no more than fifteen minutes of downtime. Although our technical expertise was an ideal match, the client questioned whether the organisation was mature enough to manage an operation of this scale. At the same time, the junior sales team lacked experience with corporate tenders.

Approach

As Commercial Director, I led the development of a technical blueprint and phased migration strategy using real-time replication and shadow runs. I paired senior engineers with sales, introduced a strict communication and decision-making playbook, and mitigated the migration risk through a financially backed SLA.
